The Senior Project Engineer - TFS located in Lehi, UT is responsible for supporting the management and administration of mechanical, electrical, and project piping construction project activities as directed by the Project Manager. Is the most highly experienced technical leader, responsible for providing detailed information to the field. Is expected to perform all the duties of a Project Manager but does not hold final financial responsibility for the outcome of the project. This position could include managing and/or mentoring multiple project engineers on large projects.

  • Develops a comprehensive working knowledge and understanding of the contract documents (plans, specifications, schedule, etc)
  • Prepares complete, accurate and timely project documentation such as submittals and RFIs and maintains the associated tracking logs
  • Accountable for receiving approved submittals from Architects or Engineers and notifies the Project Team of potential cost and/or schedule impacts
  • Assists Project Manager by preparing all necessary back up relating to change order requests
  • Assists the Project Team in the timely completion of all required project close-out documents per contract, including turnover packages, as-builts, O&M manuals, warranties, owner training, punch lists, and other related items
  • Distributes contract documents to downstream subcontractors, including drawings, specifications, general conditions, and final requirement documentation. Include any accepted alternates or addendums with documents
  • Schedules all required construction meetings with required personnel, subcontractors, Architects and Owners, as specified by the Project Manager
  • Takes accurate and complete meeting minutes and distributes timely
  • Attends Owner/Architect pre-bid, project and closeout meetings, as specified by the Project Manager
  • Assists the Project Manager, Superintendent and Procurement with purchasing, expediting and receiving material and equipment for the project
  • Maintains good customer relations with the Owner, Architects, Engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, public officials
  • Maintains good relationships with field Supervisors and the workforce
  • Assists in the preparation, issuance, and receipt of bid packages
  • Manages the tracking, reproduction, and distribution of all drawings, specifications and sketches and revisions
  • Attends and participates in construction and other meetings as required; taking and issuing meeting minutes as required
  • Creates, updates, and maintains a variety of project controls that track the status of individual projects or task orders, changes to projects or task orders, request for information (RFI), shop drawings and submittal, matters involving quality controls, safety, financial performance, close-out and other aspects of the project(s) or task order(s). Analyze reports and use personal influence to create priorities that prevent delays to critical activities within the project
  • Assists the Project Team in scheduling and executing the Design/BIM Process. Work with design department to create, review and process shop drawings and other submittals that are required to document the construction process
  • Manages or supports the change management process, by updating logs, routing source documents to vendors, obtaining pricing, developing estimates and proposals, writing change orders and other related activities
  • Negotiate sand/or supports the process of negotiating contracts, subcontracts and purchase orders
  • Proactively identifies issues that could lead to problems and facilitate solutions
  • Assists with the evaluation of projects for constructability and value-engineer cost savings
  • Participates in weekly staff meetings and industry networking functions
  • Covers for the Project Manager when he or she is not available for a specific meetings or events
  • Familiarizes oneself with the Project Manager job description and works deliberately to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to evolve into one of the stated roles

Show your expertise

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • OSHA 30 required    
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Experience working on construction projects (preferably Semiconductor and/or Pharmaceutical construction projects)
  • Experience working in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to understand drawings and specifications, contract documents, materials, means and methods
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, estimating, construction costs, scheduling, and purchasing
