Mechanical Wet Engineer - Cooling (m/f/d)

The Mechanical Wet Engineer (Cooling) participates in a team environment consisting of engineers and designers to produce construction documents for the following systems: HVAC wet, plumbing, controls and the like.

Explore your tasks and responsibilities

  • Performs engineering tasks for the design of utilities and HVAC wet systems for high technology facilities including cleanrooms, general manufacturing/process facilities and institutional facilities

  • Prepares mechanical engineering calculations in support of HVAC systems designs including heat load calculations, boiler and chiller definition, pipe and components sizing, chilled and hot water hydraulics, static pressure calculations, other equipment sizing and selection

  • Coordinates with disciplines in the preparation and development of the deliverables and ensuring those other disciplines’ inputs are incorporated

  • Supports project on-site execution and make decisions to support projects and act as technical consultant

  • Assists in providing specialized technical input to studies and design for staff’s specific area of expertise

  • Assists in developing studies and design procedures to facilitate high-quality cost-effective work by discipline team

  • Works closely with the project team and other disciplines as well as other design offices

  • Assists in the development of conceptual design, preliminary design, and final design documents which would include calculations related to sizing and selecting of these systems, the development of Process and Instrumentation Diagrams, general arrangements and sequences of operation associated with these systems

  • Works on a variety of wet services system, including hot water generation plant – both solar and heat pumps, water reticulation networks, and gravity drainage systems, whilst understanding their impact on the environment and collaborating across disciplines to minimize it.

Show your expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical education background required

  • 5+ years of experience with engineering heating and cooling systems - Compressed Air experience would be advantageous

  • Advanced Technology Facilities experience preferred (such as e.g. semiconductors)

  • Very good knowledge of Autodesk Building Systems Software

  • General knowledge of codes and common industry standards related to the design of industrial and manufacturing facilities and systems

  • Must be a strong team player with an ability to build effective working relationships with individuals, department leads and client representatives

  • Fluent German & and very good English language skills
