Director, Project Delivery - Data Center Construction

As part of the Data Center (DTC) Regional Business Unit team, the Director, Project Delivery is responsible for assembling Data Center construction project delivery teams with the requisite qualifications and experience and working with cross functional teams to ensure the successful initiation, planning, execution, and closure of projects, and that performance targets are achieved, risks managed, and opportunities maximized on projects.

  • Be aware of, understand, and effectively carry out all delegated health, safety, and environmental responsibilities.
  • Actively promote a health and safety culture to achieve targets of no lost time injuries or environmental incidents; all incidents are reported and accurately recorded, and all persons are suitably trained or supervised in their work.
  • Key advisor to the Regional Business Unit DTC Lead on all project related activities, including reporting on matters in relation to the performance of projects against agreed performance metrics.
  • Participate in new business opportunities and project review procedures, commencing at regional business unit levels, progressing to Executive Board if value, or perceived exposure exceeds certain thresholds.
  • Participate in the review and development of PIRA or TERA prospects, ensuring realistic plans are developed for scalable proposal development and project execution.
  • Provides leadership and strategic guidance, chairing meetings and supporting the development of business and project strategies to deliver the required levels of profitability.
  • Draft business unit and project performance policies and procedures; review existing policies on an annual basis and recommend changes as appropriate.
  • Provide strategic guidance, support, and challenge, to ensure effective control, forecasting and management of projects.
  • Lead service delivery with key customers; maintaining and strengthening relationships, using opportunities to cross-sell and manage a team delivering single or multiple services.
  • Provide advice and counsel to Project delivery teams on key day to day activities and associated issues that arise during project execution and delivery.

  • Develop and implement a strategy to ensure that the project has the management capabilities and is delivered against project/contract requirements.
  • Provide management, motivation, inspiration, and technical leadership for a wide range of teams engaged on projects.
  • Leads monthly project reviews, ensuring projects are being executed in accordance with Exyte standards, practices, and procedures, the contract, and project execution plan.
  • Champion as the leader of the Project Steering Committees, the monitoring of, and reporting on, strategic and operational risks and related key controls to identify, quantify, monitor, and minimize risks (and maximize opportunities) in projects.
  • Assists project staff in developing project deliverables; reviews and approves schedules, budgets, project milestone dates.
  • Oversees all aspects of the procurement and contracting process from procurement planning through acquisition, contract administration and close out. Ensures complex bid processes conform with corporate policies and procurement practice, ensuring fair and open competition and best benefit to the company.
  • Perform quantitative analysis of contract documents to assess commercial viability and application of risk management, with particular emphasis on risk allocation.
  • Represents Exyte to external contacts and stakeholders building and maintaining the company’s reputation.
  • Maintain a positive and ethical work climate that is conducive to attracting, retaining, and motivating a diverse group of top-quality employees at all levels.

Show your expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree in Project or Construction Management or related engineering discipline.
  • 10+ years’ engineering and project management related experience.
  • Experience and exposure to working for/with a large EPC company.    
  • Membership of a relevant professional construction body is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Data Center construction delivery is a must.
  • Deep knowledge of the Mission Critical sectors.
  • Self-starter with innate sales orientation, optimism, and drive; good organizational skills.
  • Hands on approach with a strong commitment to customer service, collaboration and continuous improvement
  • Effective people leader with experience managing and developing diverse multidisciplinary teams to deliver tasks within demanding timescales.
  • Results driven with a solution-oriented bias.
  • Effective communicator in oral and written communication. 
  • Must be able to travel regionally and internationally.
