As a Lead member of the Design Department, the primary purpose of this post is to lead the Architectural Team, to balance the effective use of resources with required services in such a manner that professional standards are not compromised.  The Architect Lead is responsible for maintaining and initiating architectural services to fully support the objectives and future development of the Company.  In doing this, to ensure that standards are appropriately applied for maximum commercial and technical effectiveness.

Explore your tasks and responsibilities

  • To implement the development of architectural standards and solutions which both manage risk and support the specialist areas of the Company’s business 
  • To provide design fee and staff resource proposals for project services
  • To agree the terms of appointment and services for external architectural practices, consultants and technical support services
  • Work closely with the business development and sales teams to develop potential business opportunities
  • Encourage inter-disciplinary working across teams and contribute to specific project teams, leading them when required
  • Ensure that all team members comply with respect to matters on health, safety and environmental protection
  • Contribute to the development of effective working relationships are established and maintained with clients, suppliers and internal colleagues. Ensuring that confidentiality is observed and maintained when dealing with private/confidential correspondence, reports, statements, records, other documents and information
  • Comply with the Company’s Quality Assurance procedures and assist in the review of standards and procedures to promote a continuing improvement in the service provided to the company’s clients
  • Provide a professional and high quality service in accordance with the Company’s Quality Assurance procedures and assist in the review of standards and procedures to ensure a continuing improvement in the service provided to the company’s clients

Show your expertise

  • Registered with the Architects Registration Board in accordance with the Architects Act 1997, and Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects
  • At least 10 years demonstrable professional experience in complex projects, also including 5 years’ experience in a senior management role
  • Good strong knowledge with broad experience in design, and construction of buildings. The post holder must have working knowledge of current legislation and practices
  • Self-motivated rational thinker with good motivational skills able to communicate with all disciplines at all levels
  • Well organised and capable of organising others with the ability to manage people, processes and time
