Senior Civil Designer

The Senior Civil Designer is responsible for accurately preparing complex construction documents and well considered technical solutions under the supervision of a Lead Engineer. Plans and conducts independent work in the Civil, Structural, and Architectural (CSA) Engineering discipline within the Advanced Technology Facilities (ATF) and Biopharma and Life Sciences (BLS) industries requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
Explore your tasks and responsibilities
- Independently perform Computer Aided Design and Drafting (Autodesk Civil 3D) of civil engineering plans including 3D modeling, alignments, corridors, cross sections, typical sections, volumes, quantities, plan and profile sheets, storm sewer layouts, stormwater design, irrigation design, phase construction sequencing, grading plans, utility or site layouts, general plan development, and change order support, including supporting calculations.
- Other software to be used CulvertMaster, FlowMaster, CivilStorm, Intergraph Smart3D or equivalent applications currently in use in the industry.
- Ability to work with local Professional Land Surveyors and use their produced data to produce civil engineering drawings.
- Participate in team and client meetings.
- Civil Designer will be involved with supporting 3-D modeling and adjusting between Civil 3D and Revit to coordinate final deliverables.
- Civil Designer may assist in cost estimates and quantity take-offs for on-going projects, proposals, forecasts, and change-orders.
- Civil Designer shall receive operational supervision and technical guidance from a Senior Supervising Designer, Engineering Group Supervisor, and/or Functional Civil/Site Lead.
- Provide technical guidance to subordinate designers, drafters, and technicians.
- May be tasked to provide on-the-job training of less experienced designers or drafters.
Show your expertise
- 6+ years of experience in Civil Design and using AutoCAD Civil3D
- Working knowledge of Microsoft products (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Associate’s degree preferred
- Ability to respectfully work well in a diverse team setting to meet tight deadlines
- Able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously
- Exhibit characteristics of an emerging or developed leader
- Be capable of enjoying the work and keeping a positive attitude in a challenging environment
- Knowledgeable and productive in the Revit work environment preferred or willingness to learn
- Exhibit a professional demeanor and be a proactive problem solver
- Previous experience with large projects preferred
